SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
11.26.09
This is some vintage Craig (and technically not even a self portrait).
HOWEVER, this is SO APPROPRIATE because it's me at the age of seven or eight on Thanksgiving at my aunt's house.
And I'm hugging her pet turkey!
Who the hell has a pet turkey?
My aunt had a female one, too, but they're smaller.
She also had TONS of other birds at her ranch house including peacocks, chickens, macaws, parrots, guineafowls, etc.
I hope you all have a good Thanksgiving.
I'm spending this holiday with Ben J.'s family in D.C., where they have two lovely Boston Terriers. =)
(While in the area, we'll also be visiting the Baltimore Aquarium and the textile museum in D.C.)
Eat up!
Last night, while eating Habibi's cooking, she recounted the following adventure she had when buying mushrooms for this dish she made.
I couldn't stop laughing. I've never seen a smiling mushroom. Except on Super Mario.I bought this same mushroom, one very, very cheap from Don Quijote, the other expensive from this market here. I thought, "why one cheap, one expensive?" then I came home I opened the package, one mushroom looks like this (she sits up straight and makes a big happy smiling face) the other one look like this (scrunches up her face and slouches over)."
We decided the other day that watching this (Martin) Margiela show doesn't get old.
(Plus, they're playing an oldie-but-goodie.)
I can't explain it.
Last night Electra said,
"I suntanned this morning."
By the way, it's winter here in Tokyo. I asked her what the hell she was talking about, it's freezing ass cold every morning, I know because I have to go out in it to catch the train for work. She said "no, it was warm around 11:00." Obviously our ideas of what "morning" is differ.
"You know we don't get sun, so it's good for us to sit out in it whenever we can."
I thought, you know what, she's right. So I sat out on my balcony just now. It was nice and sunny, if a little cold. Except I kept feeling like the people in the apartment across the way were staring at me. The building has reflective windows so who knows what's going on inside.
Then Baldy called me, and we're doing our regular Saturday routine of meeting up at the Starbucks and talking shit until one of us has to do something.
Seeya.
SELF PORTRAIT THURSDAY!
11.19.09
But when I found myself getting v. stressed out by my project, I realized I needed a break.
This was the perfect distraction.
I love sitting out in the hallway of my studio because I like to look out at the birds and the water and such.
For at least five minutes or so.
I think this is my favorite song, ever.
